Ethan’s Mate (Book 1: The Vampire Coalition) by J.S. Scott

3.5 STARS

Ethan’s Mate is gripping right from the beginning. “Now…he was bursting with unbridled emotions, controlled by them, overwhelmed by them.” “She was beautiful and more precisous to him than anything he had ever coveted in his entire existences. She was the one who held his soul and his future sanity in her fragile hands.”

A quick read, more of a sex story than a love story, overall decent book.

The Vampire's Warden by S.J. Wright

4 STARS

S.J. Wright gives an intriguing take on vampires in her novel, The Vampire's Warden. My only complaint is Wright did not complete her thought, and left the book with a giant cliff-hanger. But it was a well written book that leaves your head spinning! Might I add, there are two hunky male characters that will surely grab your attention.

"Death was walking in my direction in slow motion  and my limbs refused to obey any commands to move, to help me get away from the monster stalking me."

All Hallows' Moon (The Seasons of the Moon) Book 2 by SM Reine

5 STARS
All Hallows' Moon is a brilliant sequel to Six Moon Summer by SM Reine. My 9 year old son ended up jumping into the series and reading alongside me. This book can stand alone, and doesn't end in a dreadful cliff hanger.

Six Moon Summer (The Seasons of the Moon) by SM Reine

5 STARS
Great Book, quick read. This book can stand alone, or you can read on to the next book. I love that although it's a series it doesn't end in a cliff hanger. It was a well thought out plot, very descriptive with a little bit of romance, lots of emotional drama and some exciting wolf action.

Fearless (Book one of the King Series) by Tawdra Kandle

3 STARS
I found this book to feel extremely long. Although it was a decent book, the author could have made the book more enjoyable with less words and redundancies.
This book would be great for young teens! Fearless gives you a glimpse into the paranormal genre without the gore and sexual content that many YA Readers thrive for.

"The thought of him leaving King--and me--caused such a choking panic in my heart that I could hardly breathe."

The Briar Creek Vampires Series 2-6 by Jayme Morse and Jody Morse

4 STARS

This book has more action, drama, and finally more details about The Briar Creek Vampires and the history of the town’s people. Thicker Than Water is one step above the first book.

3 STARS

I noticed more grammar errors in this book. But there is plenty of action, romance and drama and of course the book ends in yet another cliff hanger.

4 STARS

Heartache, really?! I felt a bit devastated reading the last sentence of this book. So of course, I instantly purchased book 5.

3 STARS

I’m not sure I like the good guy becoming the bad guy, and the bad guy becoming the good guy. I am really disappointed in the direction the authors took the story.

3 STARS

I’m still hesitant in the direction of the romance the authors are leading the characters down. But I will most likely read book 7 when it comes out. Overall it’s a decent new vampire series.

Kiss of Death (The Briar Creek Vampires) Book 1 by Jayme Morse and Jody Morse

3.5 STARS
In this first installment of The Briar Creek Vampires you have to read the entire book before you can find out what in the world is going on in Briar Creek. And just when the authors reveal anything—they leave you hanging. WTH! Seriously?! But, I immediately purchased the second book because I had to know what happened next. So that must say something for the book!

The Guest and The Change (The Two Vampires) by M.D. Bowden

4 STARS

Enjoyable steamy and fast paced, The Two Vampires takes you on a ride of good vampire verses bad vampire, with delectable Sarah caught in the middle.

I think the book could have been more intense had Sarah been more distraught over the happenings of her husband, and police involvement with the mysterious disappearances around town. Those few lacking elements made the book seem a little hard to believe. But M.D. Bowden still captured the audience, and wrote a creative story.

Breath of Air by Katie Jennings

4 STARS

From the Author:
"The Dryad Quartet is a contemporary fantasty series revolving around the fictional land of Euphora, where beings inspired by Greek mythology exist to preserve the balance of nature and human life, and to protect the living from the evil residing in the Underworld. Take a journey into a world where Mother Earth and Father Sky exist, secretly hidden from human awareness, and yet crucial to the creation and stability of our world. They are joined by those who control the elements, the Dryads, as well as the Fates, Muses, and Furies, all whom play an integral role in preserving Earth and guarding those who inhabit it."

Katie Jennings

Mother Earth, Father Sky and plenty of characters creating weather, how fun! Katie Jennings leaves no details left unwritten in Breath of Air. This book could easily appeal to both young and old readers. Breath of Air is the first in the Dryad Quartet and can be purchased here.

Ravenous by Erica Stevens

4 STARS

If I had read what this book was about, chances are I would not have read the book. I like different, but aliens are not my thing. But—I’m thankful I didn’t know what this book was about, because it ended up being a great story. The end is a bit of a cliff hanger, and defiantly leaves you wanting more. Overall it was a good book. Great for young teens!

Perfect for You by Kate Perry

5 STARS

“Fiery goddess in search of the perfect god. Soar with me through clouds, frolic under the stars, hand me the moon for my own.  Mortals need not reply.”

Kate Perry writes a book that is Perfect for You! Well worth the 5 steamy Stars, and I look forward to reading other books by her. I’ve found a new favorite author!

“I want you to be the last thing I see when I go to sleep and the first thing I see when I wake up.  I want to sit with you in the sun, on the floor, and anywhere else, just to be close to you. I want it all.”

Ensuing Darkness by Alexis Cain

3 STARS
Ensuing Darkness is a weirdly intriguing book, and holds promise—if the author has better editing. Unfortunately it’s full of grammar errors, I stopped counting after 10.  Cain’s take on vampires is so out of this world and different, but in a good way. This book seems better suited for a younger audience. Depending on the price of the next book, I would consider reading it in hopes the editing is better.

Blood Snow Series 1-11 by RaShelle Workman

4 STARS

“Lips red as rubies, hair dark as night. Drink your true love’s blood, become the Vampire, Snow White.”

This is a great series! It contains 12 books, all relatively short. I read the first 11 books in a weekend. I’m currently waiting for book 12 to be published.

RaShelle Workman puts an interesting twist on the story of Snow White, and brings in several fantasy characters and realms.

I received the first 4 books for free, from Amazon and then paid .99 cent for each book after. Although the books are short, the money spent was well worth the read. (Pricing is always subject to change)

Scarlette by Davonna Juroe

5 STARS

“Love is blind; therefore, it loves the dark.” ~ Tadeusz Gicgier

Scarlette is a wickedly great book! It will keep you turning pages rapidly till the end.  This is the best Little Red Riding Hood spinoff, and I would love to see it turn into a movie.

“We were like the moon and the sun, she and I. We could never be close, but I had no idea our lives were about to eclipse.”

Tempt Me by Isabel Morin

4 STARS

When starving artist Nina decided to pack and leave town, she never imagined a one night stand would change the path she was headed down.
Nina needed to leave town and find new a direction, and Ian wanted a fun romance for a few weeks—neither of them wanting to find love. But love can be so tempting.

Tempt Me was a good book, not hands down the best book I’ve read but it was well worth the read.

The Pink Rose by Alicia Roberts

1.5 STARS

“Her feminine scent wafted up to him – pink, he thought, sweet like vanilla and rose.”

The Pink Rose started out with potential, but slowly spiraled down into a mess of grammar errors and contradictions.  After moving smoothly the book began to jump back and forth between Max and Amy, which made it confusing. The author notes Max using protection the first time they were intimate, then not using any during the shower session, then jumps to his parent’s family dinner where they talked to him, and his siblings, about wanting grandchildren. But nothing came of it…
The booked seemed to jump all over the place with an insignificant amount of character detail and depth to the story.

Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James

5 STARS

When inexperienced Anastasia Steele stumbles into the office of Christian Grey, she never imagined she would fall for a man with enough baggage to fill the cargo holding of a 747, nor be introduced to a “play room with no consoles.” But as her inner goddess would have it, she fell and fell hard.
Fifty Shades of Grey introduces the reader to a world of a consensual dominant/submissive relationship. But, what negative book reviewers have failed to comment on is the story line. This book is more than a steamy raunchy sex life. This book is about a child born into a world of pain, the struggles he, Christian Grey,  has with relationships in his adult life, and the idea he has that he does not deserved to be loved or be capable of giving love.
Just when you think both Ana and Christian can compromise on their wants, their relationship takes a drastic turn and E L James leaves you crying, literally, and wanting to find out what happens next.

Book Review "Coming Soon": Fifty Shades of Grey series by E L James

E L James (Author of Fifty Shades of Grey)

Never Lost by Riley Moreno

2 STARS

Never Lost is a fast paced young adult book. Unfortunately it seemed to move too quickly and did not allow for an emotional connection between the story and reader.

Wait for Me by Elizabeth Naughton

5 STARS
“Sometimes we spend way too much time questioning the gifts we’re given instead of being thankful for them.”

Finally—a book that will make you cry! Wait for Me is full of deceit, heartache, pain, passion and best of all love. Naughton pulls her readers in from page one, and keeps you gripped firmly to the story until the end.
Wait for Me is a book worth buying, worth reading, and most of all worth remembering! You won’t soon forget the raw emotions you feel in this story!

The Tycoon's Revenge by Melody Anne

The Tycoon’s Revenge (Baby for the Billionaire, book 1) by Melody Anne
***Fairytales do come true! ***
Melody Anne writes a touching “Author’s Note” before the story begins—make sure you read it. The note makes a beautiful connection between the author and her story.  I appreciate Melody more just by reading her note.

The only negative I have about The Tycoon’s Revenge is the number of characters that have names starting with the letter D. In the beginning it makes it a bit difficult to remember who is who. Other than that it’s a wonderful book, and deserves 5 STARS.
